That's a bad motor for being carborated . I still have a picture of that engine, dirty as crap with that nice new super charger on it. I need to scan a pic of my 2.9L when it was on the stand, it was spotless. What kind of internals you runnin' in that?
well the crank and rods are stock but i had them shot peened and and lightened,as for the pistons they are forged wiseco .30 over, the heads were decked and got SS valves with a 3 angle valve job, intake and exhaust ports were massage generously to match intake and exhaust, the springs are like 170lbs closed and like 390 open custom cam from schneider taylored exactly to my car with the tranny im runnin and the stall and gear ratio and all that stuff, the cam will make power all the way to 9000rpmmmm's and will start to valve float at about 9200 so thats all i can think of right now if i remember anything else ill email. thanks for the interest
ps it should run low to mid 7's in the eighth
What kind of rocker arms are you running, I dont think the stockers will hold up to that spring pressure without cracking or wearing out the shaft. What compression ratio are you running? What size valves are you running? With the size of those intake ports, even if they are ported to the max, I doubt youll even get close to 9000 RPM with that engine. What psi are you going to be running?

Oh yea, It'll hit 9,000rpm. I seen a 2.9L carbed on a sand buggy. The shift point was 7,200. These 60 degree Ford motors can put out some rpms.
