Having timing belt replacment problems!!
i have a 89 2.3l ranger. timing belt went up a couple weeks ago. now im in the process of putting a new one on. i have eveything already off the front of the engine. i timed up the crank, and cam gears, but at that time didnt know what that gear to the right was(oil pump sprocket). put the belt on and tightened it up. started it up and it ran, didnt sound like it used to but it ran! the next day i found out that the gear to the right was the oil pump sprocket and took the belt off and used the information that i got off OnDemand and timed up the oil pump sprocket. when i put the belt back on and tightened it down it wouldnt start. ive tried timing this thing up a million times and it has not turned over yet. it has spark and fuel and sounds good just while its cranking. need to know what else it could be. any help would be very appricated. thanks

i didnt think the oil pump sprocket needed to be timed, at least my 91 2.3l didnt.
first check to make sure everything is hooked up. also check the crankshaft position sensor and make sure you did not break the magnet off of it.
