Explorer idling revs

Explorer idling revs

Lately my '98 Explorer Sport after startup idles above 2000 RPM on occasion. The next time I start it up it will idle at ~1200 RPM. You can never predict it. Are some electronics going like the oxygen sensor?

you need to check the IAC (Idle Air controller) sticky at the head of this forum. After that, I'd clean/check the MAF sensor.

I did have the IAC fixed uner warranty. Mine does the same thing. Sometimes when I start it revs high, even when hot. The service dept. said it is normal. So I just drive it
