The 4wd light in my 1995 Aerostar flashes 2 times between pauses. I have the shop manual for it but cannot find where the flash codes are listed. Does anyone have any idea what this code means? Also, (for future reference) where are they located in the shop manual?
I have the factory service manuals for a '91 and a '95. The '91 manual lists the codes but the '95 does not. Anyway, according to the '91 manual, two flashes means "clutch coil or clutch connector has discontinuity" (which I would assume is the same for the '95). So, time to get out the DMM and check the circuit. Could just be a loose connector. If you need more info, let me know and I can try to dig it up. The '95 manual has the pinouts for the connector so you should be good to go.
By the way, I get the same thing when I park the van facing uphill. Being lazy (or efficient with my time, depending on how you look at it), I ignore it and it goes away when it's on flat ground.
Thank you for your info: I checked the coil connector and it was loose. The factory clips that hold the harness had broken and the wire was hanging on the connector and had pulled it loose. You might want to check this on yours.
I have a 95 4WD. I don't think I have a wire to the coil. My transfer case only has wires to the 2 speed sensors. I bought one speed sensor and switched them all around. But I still have 2 flashing blinks on the 4WD light.
