Heater Core Replacement

Thanks to everyone's advice I decided this weekend to replace my heater core and with the help of my Hayes Manual it wasn't hard at all.

Now I will be able to drive in the morning and evening without stoppping to clean my windshield or drive with the windows open to keep from breathing the fumes.

Problem did occur in reassembly though and I hope you can help.

Once I put everything back and tested it ( it all works fine, lots of heat and no leaks ) I noticed that the control to change temperature from Warm to Cold doesn't work so well.

It is a wire in a plastic sheath and now its movement is restriced to Maxium Hot to 3/4 Maximum Hot. I can move the switch from COld to Hot but the actual arm inside is now only moving 1/4 of the way and I am not getting full range.

I checked my manual and it doesn't give a great description for my model or year of truck (89 F-150, 302 4X4, Lariat) The core I changed was doen through the passenger glove box and the wire was hinged on the cover panel. In pulling it off I must have messed up something.

Any advice on how to set this so I can get cold air or at least the 1/2 mixed air. Since the A/C is long since gone. I use the windows down and 60 KM/H method. But would like to use the 1/2 mix for those not so cold/warm rainy days.

Thanks!
