Holley carb troubles
Okay, I have a Holley 2300 that won’t run under 800 RPMs and won’t run smooth till 1100 RPMs. No matter what adjustments I do the mixture is to lean. The only way to compensate is with the choke or holding down the gas pedal. The carb was recently rebuilt and the timing may not be quite right, but when we go to start it back fires out the intake and won’t start. Any suggestions will help thanks!

Sounds like you've blown a power valve. This is a common problem on Holley 4bbl. Blowing the power valve is caused by backfires. There are fixes but the best I've found is an Edelbrock. Oops you have a 2bbl. never mind.

Check for vacuum leaks. Get it running and use some carb cleaner spray. Spray aruond the base of the carb and where there manifold meets the heads if the rpms change that is where the leak is. Also check all your vacuum lines.
