I just put the 2.8L motor in to my 85 ranger, i durasparked it (gm ignition module), offy intake and Holley 390 cfm carb, got it all hooked up and came to the point where i need to install the distributer so i rolled the motor over tell i got compression on the #1 cylinder watched for the mark on the harmonic balancer to come up to the pointer. Well to my surprise 2 showed up i assumed it was the top mark so i set the dist. to that it runs but not all that well and makes no power in the high rpm's, and idles high. I think it might be the timing is off. So I'm wondering if i have the wrong mark? Maybe somebody out there can tell me how to set the timing with these marks or is it not the timing, maybe something else. Thanks for the help.
