hey guys, anybody know a quick check to see if the thermostat is stuck? its open i think, i'm not getting hot air, just warm. temp guage seems to be cool all the time.
i changed one last year with a super duper one from auto zone. i guess it could have failed in one year...
i've been told these 4.0 liters can eat thermostats..? any truth to that? thanks rick
Let the van sit over night or till the radiator water is cold. Crank the engine and feel the upper radiator hose near where it inters the radiator. If the hose feels hot within 2 or three minutes the thermostat will be open. Normally that stays cold for awhile untill the engine coolant gets hot enough ,195 degrees, to open the thermostat. Also if the thermostat is working correctly you should see the gauage move up & than drop down as the thermostat opens.
