Repacking wheel bearings What to do.

Hey guys I was thinking of repacking my front wheel bearings on my 1996 150 4x4. I have the manual locking hubs. Is this something I can do myself. Do I need any special tools. Ive repacked two wheel drives and front wheel bearings on tractors. Never a 4 wheel drive. What I need is step by step instructions. Can any one of you fill me in and tell me what I should do or what manual I should get. Any help would be appreciated

Go to your local autoparts store and pick up the Haynes manual for '80-'96 Pickup & Bronco. You will also need the 4wd hub socket, which looks like a big piece of pipe with 4 nubs sticking out the open end of it and a square hole on the capped end that your ratchet fits into. Local parts store should have one to sell or rent to you. Snap ring pliers are helpful (but not necessary) for removing the lock ring.

I had just repacked and replaced my from wheel bearings and rotors a few weeks ago on my 1989 4x4 F150 351w. The haynes manual is very good and the socket runs about $20 at Autozone, who does not rent this tool.....
P.S. Have lots of clean rags , it's a very messy project...

Also layout a clean rag and as you pull a part out place on the rag in the order it came out. Goes back together easier.
