Unhappy Starting problems...

Well I have scheduled to take my F350 in for a waranty inspection & repair next Tuesday, I was in Red Deer, Alberta to see a friend at Glover International Trucks earlier this week & he suggested the trouble was likely to be the Fuel Transfer Pump, but I am also suspecting possible glow plug troubles too.
After sitting overnight my truck does not start without a fight. When the key is cycled on to engage the glow plugs the electric fuel transfer pump can be heard, it takes close to 5 minutes before the fuel transfer pump has charged the fuel line up, then even after cycling through the glow plug sequence several times it balks at starting.
Our overnight temperatures are droping right down close to freezing, but that shouldn't be cold enough to need to plug it in to my way of thinking.
Have any of you experienced similar troubles? If so, what did you find to be the trouble?
My '02 F350 has 134,000 Km or about 83750 Miles & runs great otherwise, it turned in a 19.6mpg on my trip south & a 20.4mpg on the return trip, Once the truck is started & warmed up it starts without any trouble unless it is left sitting for 8 to 12 hours.
Interested in hearing your thoughts & suggestions.

It sounds more like it may be glow plug related problem. Try plugging the block heater in for a few hours before starting it next time and see if that helps. If that seems to cure the start, look at the glow plug system - one at a time.

Before you try to start the engine in the AM check the high pressure oil pump level. The pump could be bleeding down overnight and not supplying pressure to activate the injectors. If it is low, add some oil to bring it up to the proper level and see if it starts.

Well the problem is solved. It turned out to be the Glowplug Relay was faulty, so I was trying to start w/o the benifit of any glow plugs. Works great now. Thanks for the suggestions.
