Hot start=No start
Anyways, I rescued my truck off of a farm. Now the things a basket case but it used to run pretty damn good. I brought it to school with me (4 hours) and I started having trouble with it not starting back up when Id go somewhere. So I did the tune-up thing and replaced the starter/battery/alternator and now its getting worse gas mileage and it doesnt even start when its cold half the time. Is there something I'm missing?
Edit: By the way, its a '77.
I have a Pontiac (78) that has the same problem. They're notorious for this problem cause the exhaust manifold routes near the starter. I drive five miles down the road to fill my tank, and it barely cranks over. If I go ten miles...nothing.
My solution is a work in progress. I bought a mylar starter blanket that wraps around the starter to reflect heat, haven't installed it yet. Bought it from Summit Racing, $31 incl shipping. Since the Ford Six isn't notorious for this problem, and there's alot of space and free air movement, I think it's just a weak starter.
