I need help. My Brake lights just stopped working the other day. Check all fuses and bulbs and everything was ok. I then started to check all wiring. When I looked under the dash at the Brake pedal I was looking at the sensor switch that is attached to the brake pedal. If I pull down on it or push up on it then the brakes lights work. I'm not sure what is actually wrong. I'm guessing that the switch has broken and has over traveled beyond the limit switch. Has anyne else experienced a similar problem and if so how har was it to replace.
Both terminals should be hot when the switch is depressed. Check with a test light or meter. Generic replacements are readily available almost any parts store. It's easy to replace,
Same thing happened to me. Go to Ford and buy a new switch. Problem solved. Inside that switch is a couple contacts like points. They get worn and pitted.
