I have a leaky Windsheld andI have put a bead of sillicon all around the damn thing and it still leaks, Its beging to leak worse now. It leaks above the headlight switch and over part of the gage part of the dash soaking in on the edge of the head liner, it has ruined my head light switch and light are tricky to stay on all at ones. switch is 50 bucks from ford 25 from junk unless anybody has one for less let me know, And It also leakes on the side window behingd the drivers seat real bad, soaks the seat and carpet and floods the elictral under that window. stero jacks and cigerate lighter. But I am proud to say I drove my 90-91 Aerostar 930+ miles in less than 21 hours. From Charleston WV to Reading PA. with no problam and 21 miles a gallon on a extended 3.0. Will I need to go to A Automotive Glass shop and have them reset the glass. If so how much and have anybody else had or has this problam??
Welcome to the club. The leaky side window seems to be a fairly common problem. Mine leaks and I can't find it because it doesn't always leak. Just when I don't have time to work on it. I have not been successful in trying to locate it by using a hose. Living in the Seattle area with all the rain, I suppose I should fix it but I've been lazy since the van doesn't spend any considerable length of time parked in the rain.
As for the windshield, I had a leak on my Ranger in the same location. I used goop around the windshield (removed the trim first) and that didn't stop it. I noticed that there was a hairline crack in the sheet metal joint near the upper corner of the windshield so I used super glue to fill the gap and also applied more goop to the windshield/frame joint and haven't had a problem since.
My windshield obviously is not sealed at the right lower corner. When I wash it, using a nozzle, water spashes up on the dash area. I can see that the glue does not seal about 1" around the corner.
But it never leaks. I never get any water in the interiour, unless I run it through a car wash. Weird.
