Strange PS pump question
Hi all,
I have an older "Long" tractor that has power steering. The power steering system is prone to failure as it shares transmission fluid with the gearbox and the pump can wear prematurely due to contamination on an older tractor. And the pump is very expensive!
I was wondering what the max output pressure is for an older style PS pump, say from a 1973 Ford car or truck? Maybe I could replace my tractor pump with a more economical automative pump and isolate the PS circuit. Is there a better year pump to use for this? I think my tractor pump is rated at 500 PSI.
