89 Aerostar
My dad's 89 aerostar needs a new ring and pinion. He was checking the fluid one day and noticed metal chips in the fluid. We're really not sure else might have gone bad in there, so I suggested we just swap out the entire rearend/axle assembly from a junker or something. I'm not sure what size diff it is or the gear ratio. All I know is that it's a 3.0 V6. I'm pretty much looking for a direct bolt-in replacement. What years of Aerostar can I expect to find a match? How long did Ford run the aerostar for? Can I pull the rearend out of one of the newer ones and bolt it right up. I'm not positive, but I think they change the rear suspension on the newer ones. could someone clarify this for me. Thanks in advance.
