all interior power failed
Haven't been back in a while due to the Bronco's semi-retirement. I have been only occasionally (every three weeks or so) firing this 90 bronco up. The last time or three the interior power has been gone. No windows, no radio, no winshield wipers, no tailgate but the ignition is fine, the exterior lights work and the instrument gauges work.
i checked the individual fuses and they show continuity, i tested just a couple of grounds, and the leads from the battery. Is there a single power feed to all of the interior stuff? Any other ideas as to a culprit?
Pretty stumped,
Jim
Thanks a bunch. I think you are both correct, to some extent. It was indeed a problem with the ignition switch. Turns out it is not malfunctioning, however. It isn't mounted well. Thus a grounding problem also.
The switch is mounted on top of the steering column. There appear to be bent metal tabs that hold the switch/wiring harness combo fixed to the column. This must be the ground connection also.
I can see that the switch is off of the steering column on the side that i can't reach. When i held the switch assembly tight to the steering column enerything worked, but it won't stay down. I cant disconnect the switch entirely without bending the other tab, and that's the only thing holding it in.
Should i epoxy the sucker down or should i do something more creative?
Thanks again for the help,
Jim
