Wow?
I just joined the forum introduced myself as a possible future diesel owner and
hoped someone could offer me some insight on what to look for in a used truck that I described and came up with 0 on 39 hits? I know that all trucks are different but I assume there are some basics to go by when looking into purchasing a diesel? Again I'm no dummy but this would be my first diesel and would like to be informed as much as possible.
try doing some searches on new diesel and other topics. you will get plenty of information. no offence but the regulars around here get tired of typing the same thing over and over. there is never a lack of people posting what is this truck worth, should i buy it, what do i look for, etc. all the info is there it is just easier for you to search and read it than to keep retyping it every other day. hope this helps and dont be afraid to post. we will try to help if we can!!! good luck you will love any PSD you decide to get.
I agree with the searching approach. It's funny on how many times questions are repeated on here BUT..... just go ask the question Diesel or Gas ....and I'm sure you'll get more than 2 replies..

JMACC,
I'll give you what I'd do.
-Check the DCA4 level in the radiator to ensure no pitting.
-Check tranny shifts with load if you can, especially with the 4R100.
-Check manual hubs if it's 4x4, don't get the ESOF.
-Make sure all body parts align to make sure it wasn't in a wreck.
-The newer the truck, the more power they have stock, so get what you can afford.
-Get any maintenance records available.
Hope that's enough to start with.
