Right turn signal problem
I have this recurring problem and would like anyone's help with solving it:
The 10A fuse will blow when I put on the right hand turn signal.
The 10A fuse and 20A fuse (it controls the hazard and brake interlock) will blow when I put the hazards on.
This problems was occurring intermittently for about a month, i.e- sometimes I could use the right turn signal normally but it would fail from time to time and I'd replace the fuse knowing I had to eventually locate the problem. Now it fails all the time.
The left turn signal operates normally at all times.
I have done the following already:
Replaced the column mounted multi-function switch.
Determined (I think) that there is not a short in the front right turn signal circuit by disconnecting the harness that runs to it and getting the same blown fuse result.
Determined that I did not have a short in the trailer harness by also disconnecting it and getting the same result.
I have not been able to locate the harness connection for the rear right signal yet so I believe I have narrowed the problem to somewhere within 25' feet of wire running from the back to the column switch.
As you may tell, I am assuming I have a short in a wire somewhere. Does anyone think this could be anything else?
Thanks for any help. I really don't want to take this to a dealer and pay $70 per hour for them to find it.
