Electrical Guru's see this post.......
Anyone have ideas on where this could be happening? I have looked the wires in back of the dash and the connector at the tank (midship only - - I can't get to the rear tank wiring) and see nothing. Can the rear sensor ground out both tanks? Would a bad sensor screw the gauge up for both front and back tanks?
HELP before I run out of gas again....... The wife really hates to push while I steer.
Ford Guages peg to full when there is no ground signal, and empty when the input is grounded.
Check the Fuel tank selector switch on the dash. It switches the guage between the front and rear tanks. If the switch is not working (open) then that would peg the needle to full even if you ground the wire at the tank.
Try grounding the wire that goes from the switch to the guage to see if the needle drops to "E".
A service manual will help you tremendously it tracing these wires.
