Where did Ford hide the block drain plug for the coolant on the 4.0L engine? Is there a block drain plug? This is worse than trying to find Waldo in those "Where's Waldo" books.
Did anyone answer this? I have a Chiltons, but generally find them almost useless. The official ford manual generally has a diagram of the block and it may be there.
Could someone with a manual for the 4.0 motor, please look it up?
The closest I can figure is that on mine,(rear air and heat) the logical place for the drain was occupied by an adapter that supplied block coolant to the rear heater. Looks to me that if you don't hagve rear heat the plug is in that position. It comes out of the block (looking forward ) right near the left motor mount.
I guy I know who had three 4.0L engines sitting in his garage from various years checked and none of them had a drain plug. But there are pads that looked like they were meant for a plug but just not drilled and tapped. I suppose Ford tried to save $.25 and not put a drain plug in.
