I have a 2004 F-150 FX4 5.4 litre and the problem I have is at about 35 mph the truck doesn't want to down shift. I know it's not carbed but it's like the four barrell isn't kicking in. Is anyone having this same problem and if so what was the fix for it.
Although I don't have that problem a quick fix to that would be to get the Superchip Microtuner then you'll be able to adjust your shift points. Oh yeah, and added HP too. Is this something you just noticed or something that has been progressively getting worst?

At that speed the Ford computer is thinking whether it is worth shifting down or not! I'll bet that if you go down to 30 mph it will shift into first??? And it will be a fairly strong jolt!! My 02' does the same thing. I can't see a programmer telling the truck when to downshift, its more for when to shift when accelerating. There is a fine line in the speed where the truck decides that it is not a good idea to shift down into first. I've driven chebys and they do the same thing.
My response was assuming that it doesn't shift into first at that speed. Now if it doesn't shift out of overdrive into a lower gear, then you have another problem.
