What products are you using to clean the carb parts prior to rebuilding? I am about to rebuild a '51 merc. "tea pot" for my bored and stroked flatty. It is pretty gummed inside and has some rust on throttle plates and choke plate. Any ideas on rust removal? Thanks.
I bought one of those 1 gallon cans of carb cleaner at the parts house many years ago. It comes with a wire basket to catch all of the small parts. I usually soak the parts over night and then blow out all of the small passages with cans of carb cleaner.
I usually take a wire brush to the rusty parts, just be gentle.
