Question No start

Hi Guys, I have a 98 F150 V6 5 speed and today when I tried to start it everything went blank the second I pushed the clutch in and turned the key. I thought it might be the battery but it is fully charged. Then I thought it could be a fuse but every fuse I can find is good. Any suggestions? Thank you

Did power return to your accessories once you returned the key to the run position? In the start position it's normal accessories to not function, as all available power needs to be diverted to the starter. Even though the starter didn't function, power is still cut off to everything else as long as you hold the key in the start position.

Now, if power didn't return when you released the key, then you have something other than a starter problem. Have you checked your battery terminals for corrosion?

I don't know if you have this setup on a V6, but take a look for something that looks like a starter relay on the firewall someplace. For some reason, my truck has one there and on the starter. Check that out, then check for a corroded starter terminal down at the starter. That's real common on these trucks apparently. Good luck!

I have nothing when I let the key return to run position. The battery terminals are clean and tight and with a fully charged battery. Not even the hood light or anything will light. In fact it acts like there is no battery installed.

I would phyically check the connection at the starter, mine corroded away, at the connection to the starter, make sure it is attached, unbolt and clean the cable and terminal.

Thank you all for your help. The problem appeared to be the ground from the battery to the firewall. For some reason it had come loose where the fierwall terminal was crimped. Just a bad crimp job from the factory I guess. Never had gave any problem before and had never been distrubed for any reason. Any way I appreciate all your inputs.
