2001 4.0/5speed transmission issues.
Hey Guys & Gals,
2001 4.0 Ranger Edge 5peed with 91k miles on the OD.
Squeaky transmission! Sounds funny, but my transmission just started making a squeaking noise whenever my truck starts rolling in reverse and this only happens when the reverse gear is engaged. If i pull it out of gear and free roll (in reverse) i get no squeaking, but put it back in gear and the squeaking starts right back up again. I noticed this last week and it appears to be getting worse. Any ideas? I am at a total loss.
On another note, at about the same time the squeaking noise started I noticed another clicking noise coming from below my shift lever. This "clicking noise" only seems to happen when I use 1st gear to engine brake while in stop and go traffic. This noise also varies based on how fast I am traveling. The faster I am moving, the faster the clicking noise.
Anybody have any ideas as to what could cause both of these?
