Trans help, advice
I took my 99 Explorer sport into AAMCO today, it has been slipping a little bit the past few months along with some other thuds underneath. They quoted me at est $2000 +/- depending on the hard parts needed. This sounds a little high. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Twin Cities area that can rebuild or do the work for less?

I was happy with the service I got at the Transmission Doctor in Apple Valley when I had to get my transfer case rebuilt in my 1992 F250 (which is for sale if anyone is interested.) It's on Cedar Ave, west side about a block and a half south of Cty 42 in a little strip with several automotive related businesses. They guy working the desk should be Steve, if I remember right. I think last I heard he either had bought the place or was trying to buy the place from the owner. He'll treat you right. I don't know what your tranny should cost, but there's good character there.
