DIY Exhaust Brake Schematic

Last weekend I got my brakes quite hot going down a long steep incline pulling my 5th wheel and decided that its time to do the exhaust brake. I have searched for the schematic that uses the IVS to engage it but cannot find the schematic. Does anyone know where I can find it?
Thanks

My truck has a six speed stick and I didn't care about keeping the EBP valve for warmup so I cut the wire and wired it up to a switch. There is also a link to somebody else's instructions on how to hook it up for use with an automatic. You have to make sure the torque converter stays in lockup while using the exhaust brake. Either way the brake works well but the engine must be turning 2500 rpm or better to be really effective. But yes it is very effective. Controls the speed quite well.

I don't know if you have an auto or stick, but to keep the TC locked up, check out the Diesel Innovations website. They have directions on how to wire up your TC so you can switch it to lock up whenever you want. I did it and it helps for rolling down hills, it don't drop into idle, it'll keep the motor pulling.

Well guys I was just out looking at my truck, early 99 F-350 dually and for some reason it doesn't have an EBPV on it. I found the wires by the pedestal but they weren't attached to anything and after looking at the turbo and down pipe there is no such thing as an actuator or valve in it. The only thing that I can think is that this truck was ordered new here in AZ without the cold weather package, I still have the window sticker is the way I know that. So my next question is can I go to a bone yard and maybe get one off of another turbo and put it on mine or are these machined surfaces specific to that turbo? This is a little disappointing for me as I really wanted to do that mod today. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Bummer. I would just go get an exhaust brake. I would venture a guess that the previous owner removed the valve and plugged the holes. Sometimes they weld the wastgate shut while it's out. I would say if the turbo is working fine right now, leave it alone. The exhaust brakes attach to the turbo outlet, so they don't effect your present installation.

It actually looks like it is a cast housing with no welding or anything on it. The waste gate works like it should. This is a bummer, and you are right, I should probably just go pick up a brake and install it in the exhaust.
