Question Which shocks?

Got an '01 F350 SD 4X Crew LB DRW and been thinking about changing the stock shocks. I tow a 3-horse living quarters trailer from time to time. Off road is basically gravel or dirt road-no heavy stuff. Friend of mine has Monroe Gas Magnums and swears by them. Also heard that the Monroe Sensa-Trak is a good shock. Thought about Ranchos and Bilsteins but I believe they're more expensive. Always heard that Monroe makes a good product. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I ha d the SensaTracs put on about 4,000 miles ago. Made a big difference. I really like them. Life Time warranty, too. Had them installed by Sears for $200. If you do alot of towing you will probably want the Magnums. That was the first ? the salesman asked.

It seems a few have thought the bilsteins were a bit stiff on these. If it's a diesel then get them on the front, if you are looking for better towing performance get them all around. they tend to tune shocks for the vehicles intended purpose. you should be able to find them for ~$70 a piece (mail order/not installed). Lifetime warranty on these as well. Monroes tend to be softer shocks. Basically just a slight step up from factory shocks, not as drastic as the Bilsteins. I've just never had good luck with magnums lasting very long. Not much exp w/ the Sensa-tracs.
