Timing + Belt Tensioner
92 E-350 7.3L IDI
straight to the point, i have two questions:
1. Is this a timing problem?; the past week i've noticed a slight, low-pitched knock for about two seconds when i accelerate from idle, kinda like when a motor is "dieseling" or stalling out, and it's been getting more frequent (everytime i accelerate). I've also noticed it's not running as smooth as when i first got it, dark smoke comes out on random accelerations, and it's randomly harder to start than other times. The change happened when a very questionable mechanic swapped out the IP, this guy was truly a dolt, he left a few things loose and was in a hurry. Thats why i suspect something related to the IP. -NOTE-i have checked all the fuel lines for leaks, and the air/fuel filters are on tight.
2. Do i need a new belt tensioner?; my belt tensioner is bouncing up and down a bit causing the belt to "chirp" on the pulleys (all the pulleys "seem" fine, i don't see any of them wobbling or not wanting to turn)
Thanks for any of your wisdom you can share, i'm so thankfull for these forums!!

this problem was causing the motor to run rough and tug on the belt tensioner creating belt slippage.
replaced the injector, runs like a champ.........
i'm still getting a little unburt fuel coming out the exhaust, i hope i tightened the injector down properly (didn't use torque wrench, just tightened to snug). i'll do another injector test and see if any other injectors are acting up........
