Aerostar 89?
Have some problem with it...
It has some rough idle, and I think the consumption of gas is a bit high, but still nothing shows on the emmision tester.
Even think that performance has lacked a bit!.
Please give some hint...
The oxygen sensor was replaced 5 months ago..
What can it be?
>from the check-engine lamp....`?
Not as far as I know . . . I've got an '89 3.0l also, and I've had to do the diagnostic connector jumper trick, with a very small lamp or voltmeter on another terminal, and read the sweeps. It's not real easy, I'll grant you. I'm tempted to buy a scan tool -- I know it's just a digital counter, but it might still be worth it!
You will want to begin collecting documentation, if you wish to service your own vehicle. I have four sources:
* Ford Service Manual for 1989 Ranger/Bronco II/Aerostar (two manual set covering Engine and Chassis, but NOT Emission diagnostics nor electrical wiring diagrams!) (purchased used via eBay for about $60, but sometimes available new from Helm, Inc. at their website:
[a href= "http://www.helminc.com/helm/Search2Result_full.asp?Style=&Mfg=FMC&Make=FCT&Cat egory=3&mscsid=V6CFJ86HBVH88GBBJNN91W1NH0JRCHCB"]http://www.helminc.com/helm/Search2Result_full.asp?Style=&Mfg=FMC&Make=FCT&Cat egory=3&mscsid=V6CFJ86HBVH88GBBJNN91W1NH0JRCHCB[/a]
or
[a href="http://www.helminc.com"]http://www.helminc.com[/a] and drill down.)
* AllData CD + TSB bulletins option (available at many auto parts stores, $20 + $20)
* Haynes (ditto, about $13)
* Chiltons (ditto, about $15)
Beware the Chiltons, because it does not tell you how to read the control system codes from the ECU, nor does it provide a chart of the codes/descriptions. The other three sources do.

Think I´ll begin with buying the Haynes book and then check what might be wrong....
Thanks

The Haynes I have is part No. "36004 (1476) (US)"
I was wrong when I included the Ford factory manuals in the list of manuals that have the ECU diagnostic codes: mine don't, and it refers me to get the "Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Manaul (Volume H)" to service the emissions system.
Helm lists my two-manual set for $92 (FPS-12199-89-1 and -2), but does not have a listing for this "Volume H" manual, and neither does eBay. Sigh.
The Wiring book, however, is only $27 at Helm, and I may buy it next month. The AllData CD has a whole bunch of wiring diagram fragments, and that's what I've been using. It's pretty good, especially if you're handy with scissors and tape, so you can print out these five-page diagrams and splice them together
