I am about to purchase an 04 or 05 Expedition. I was planning on getting the 4 corner load leveling becasue I tow a boat (3,500 lb). However, it is very, very hard to find the 4 corner load leveling in Southern California on a 4X4. Will the normal suspension sag in the rear?
I don't see very many people towing boats with an Expedition. Is there a reason why? I do see lots of Suburbans and Yukons towing boats. My friend tows his boat with a Suburban with normal suspension (not the load leveling) and there is no sag. Makes me wonder if I really need Ford's load leveling.

You shouldn't even notice a 3500 lb boat behind you on the highway. You should only have 10% of the boat weight on your hitch (350 lb MAX), so it's only like having one rather 'large' adult in the back. No problem.
With only a 3500 lb load, I'd guess you're towing about a 17 - 19' boat? I used to pull a 19' with an Explorer V6, so I know you won't have a problem.
Thanks. I am towing a 19' boat. I currently tow with an 98 Explorer V8 which tows great but the rear sags a lot. I don't want a saggy rear on my Expedition.
I had an 03 with the normal suspension, it would sag when pulling a 16' Wells Cargo with about 500lbs tongue weight. When I got the 04 I changed to the LLS and am glad I did. No sag even with a lot of tongue weight, it rides better unloaded, and looks low and mean when parked.
Not only will you benefit when towing, the ride will be much better with or without the tongue weight vs an expy without LLS. Even though there will not be the initial "sagging" with standard suspension, once you load the cargo area with stuff and add a couple people in back, you will notice a great deal when traveling as the steering will feel a bit looser. Yes, it will add a bit to the price tag but well worth it if you will be doing a lot of towing and ride comfort.
I'm glad to see fans of the LLS. A lot of folks here are unhapy with it and have swapped theirs our or have suggested people don't get it. I have it and am delighted.
