4 speed OD linkage difficulty
upon reinstallation of the tremec manual 4 speed overdrive trans in my '78 f150 xlt supercab i can't seem to get the linkage to operate. is there a trick to setting it up, like having it in a particular gear? thanks...

You need to loosen the linkage adjustment nuts so there is plenty of slack, then move the tranny tabs so that the trans is in neutral, then place a 1/4" drill bit into the alignment hole in the shifter mechanism, it's just below the pivot point of the shifter. After the holes are all lined up with the drill bit you can tighten up the adjusting nuts and remove the drill bit.
