Just wondering if and how the 1993 trubo diesel trucks were wastegated? Kinda in an argument and wanted to know how the boost was regulated. If any body can help

they regulated the boost pressure using a "wastegate actuator". Looks like a little can connected to the turbine housing with a metal rod and a hose on it. It is internally spring loaded (closed) and the spring pressure is overcome by the boost pressure, fed thru a little hose to the actuator. When about 7 psi of boost is produced, the actuator opens the gate and releases excess pressure to the exhaust system.
