oil leaks
looks like i have some oil leaks at the valve covers and oil pan on my 91 aerostar 4.0 litre engine. any one know if i can get the oil pan off to replace the gasket without lifting the engine?. also any words of warning or wisdom before i try to replace the valve cover gaskets?...looks like it will probably be an all day job..will probably wait for warm saturday to do it.that way if i can't get it all back together i'll still have sunday to tinker with it. i called a dealer, they estimated $500.00 to do the valve cover gaskets because of the time/labor to get to them..i already tried just tweaking them a bit, it helped for a while...at 156 tho mi. i guess they are due. rick

oil leaks
My 3.0L had a rusted out oilpan. When I changed it I had to jack the motor and BARELY had enough room to wiggle pull and yank it out. I believe the 4.0 is about the same physical size and will be real tight getting it out. I'd recomend doing the valve covers first and then doing the pan the next weekend.
