Quick question: How are yall's MPG numbers on the Screw? 5.4 w/ the 3.55 is what I'm looking at. Also interrested in the numbers of the 4.6 and other variants. Gracias.
That is a big if there, if I drive nice I get around 15-16, if I pull my trailer I get about 9 mpg and if I take a trip through the hill at about 55 on a nice cool day I get around 18-20. But the power of the 5.4 over the 4.6 is wonderful.
I guess that the bigger displacement really dosent make a big diference in MPG. Thats what I've heard from most people, but I know that most of the time a bigger engine usually uses more gas, and a bigger truck usually uses more gas.
Got a 5.4L 4x4 Screw with 3.73LS with 1600 miles. Average mileage with 50/50 highway/city is 11.8 mpg. Hand calculations match with the fuel computer. No hills (Houston) and only weekend towing of 1100 lb. Jetski. No lead foot either. What gives?
04 screw 5.4 3.73ls
hilly terain ,-maryland/pa was getting around 13mpg no matter how i drove it .replaced cat back exhaust and instantly picked up 2.8-3mpg,could not believe it my self. sounds better too.
I am getting about 10.5 whether I drive it sanely or like I stole it. Going to install K&N Air Charger this week to see if it helps. Truck is great, gas mileage is awful. Been to dealer to have PCM "reflashed." No help as dealer said all was fine and no updates available. Thinking of getting SuperTuner. Any suggestions?
5.4L, 3.73rear FX4SCREW. I have about 4500mi. Just got back from a trip to Ocean City,Md. I got an average of 16mpg. I also drive at about 75mph on the hwy. The highest I ever got was 18hwy. Normal everyday driving I get about 13-14mpg. Just put on a Corsa Cat Back exhaust. I can't wait to see if the mileage improves.
I got better gas mileage with my Tundra, but you can keep that P.O.S.
I'll take the F150 anyday.
5.4L, 3.73rear FX4SCAB, I went on a trip yesterday 1.5 hours at 70 mph, got 19.5mpg and I was carying a load of stuff. Completly stock no modifications to truck.
Seems to be alot of variation between similar trucks here. My suggestion is to check the tire pressure and MAX it within the specs or even slightly higher. I am currently driving a 98 F150 but picking up a '04 SCAB Lariat tonight.
i did my first full fill up. 300 miles and 20.1 gallons. so thats about 15 mpg. 5.4l, 4x4, 3.73 LS, and 275/65/18s. this is combined city/hwy/ . some city hill driving, and fwy from 60-75 with OD on and off. so far 634 miles total.
before that, i did a 1/2 tank fillup, but i didn't have the trip meter reset when i picked it up off the lot. i think i got about 14-15 on that first tank, too.
no complaints, since my old 4runner got 14-15. hopefully it gets better, though.
Anything is better than my truck now. 96 Chevy 4.3 W/ stock gears, 32x12.5 tires and flies thruogh the air like a block of cheese. Still debating between the 5.4 and 4.6. And the Screw and Scab. I want the Screw sooo bad, but am afraid of not only the milage but drivin around town w/ such a big truck. I have problems parking my truck now, and it's just a reg cab!
I only drive about three miles in city traffic to work, so my mileage is lousy most of the time...about 10 mpg. Out on the open road I can get up to 21, 22 mpg. Truck is stock, no aftermarket items yet. But I do plan to get a tonneau for the bed, maybe my city mileage will improve to 10.000057934 mpg.
