Information Security: The Shredder

Do you think in the future that all documents will eventually be shredded? I mean think of all the important documents that are just left at the landfill where anyone could read them.

I use a cross-cut shredder, you can never be too safe!

Do you a shredder or throw your bank account #'s right in the garbage where it is visible?

Anything that has my name or any family member's name on it along with any account info gets shredded.

$20 for a shredder versus having personal information stolen....Only one way to go.

I shred too. (Crosscut.) The paper makes a great firestarter for the grill.

I shred everything with even a name and address on it. It's much better than having your identity stolen.

I burn all credit card applications, anything that has numbers on it that I know are true, I keep in an undisclosed location--not even my ma and pa know where I keep my bank statements.

Neither, I file all important documents in folders by the months and when the year is over I place them in a box and label it accordingly. I have all my boxes stored neatly in the corner just in case I need to look up any information. It comes in handy every once in a while when a credit card company fines you for supposedly being late.

Do you remember the hostages in Iran? They took all the shredded papers and put them back together.

Just the stuff I don't want people to see. I use the fireplace and burn it all up, or sometimes I'll use it to light the grill.

I don't throw anything away, I have boxes of old papers with closed bank account numbers and such...but I don't worry too much, if anyone should gain access to my account, they're not gonna get much! -TD

FWIW, identify theft is when they get your SSN number.
