I need help with a 48 steeringbox which was transplanted into my 42 anyway, can anyone provide me with part numbers for the seals and gaskets, I see kits and parts avaliable but the local parts store can't do anything with the numbers I can find. Most importantly I need the sector shaft seal part number and the steering shaft felt seal number. Gasket numbers also quite helpful But most important right now is that silly sector shaft seal. Would obviously prefer a national seal number but hey beggers can't be choosers, Thanks in advance
I bought a rebuild kit from Dennis Carpenter's - they're online.
Mac's Antique auto catalog shows the original numbers as:
Sector shaft seal 8A-3591-A about $5
Sector shaft oil seal(felt) 21C=3738-A and about 50 cents.
Sorry, I don't have national parts crossover numbers - your parts guy will have to turn off the computer and dig out the obsolete books that he has under the counter
