I got a '97 Expediton Eddie Baur and I haven't flushed or changed the trans fluid for 125K miles. I think I want to do it now and have heard of two types of flushing equipment. One type hooks up to the lines coming from the radiator, the other type hooks directly up to the pump. Does anyone know the advantages / disadvantages of each? I've heard the Pump Inlet equipment is better because it flushes the crud out instead of redistributing it and also requires a filter change to be done.
I'd also like to know what transmission I have and if the DIY transmission flush method provided here in this forum would work for me.
Oh, and one more thing, does anyone know if I can drain my torque converter?
