I picked up a ZF 5-speed trans to be retrofitted into an older vehicle with a 5.0. It's a Ford item out of an 87-94 F250-350, so I'm told. It came less flywheel and clutch, pressure plate etc.
Is it a 10.50" size? Any other recommendations or suggestions?
The 10.5 is more common in the mustang but I belive the trucks could be had with both the 10.5 and the 11 inch set ups. I think both flywheels will take either set up. The main thing you need to match up is that you have the correct number of teeth on the flywheel for the ZF trans. This needs to be correct so that your starter will engage correctly.
I think my father had trouble installing an 11 inch set up in his truck once. I think the pressure plate was hitting the top of the bell housing. Now his tranny isn't stock so he has a little bit of a mix up like you may have.
I no longer have my ZF set up so I can't measure the flywheel for you. Have you tried to look up those years and models you mentioned at the local parts store to see what is offered?
