I was pulling our trailer home on sunday and back to Sacramento from Reno up the Donner Summit. I usually go at 45-47 mph; however, i was down to 35 mph by the time i reached the summit. I have a F350 crew cab 4-wheel dually with a 460, c-6, and 410 gearing. I was pulling the same weight as many times before, 32ft alpha toy hauler, estimated weight of truck and trailer at 13,000 lbs. Can anyone give me ideas of what my problem may be? Thanks
I have had power problems on that grade too. With my F350 and TT (also about 13,000 lbs), it was a fuel pump going bad. It has been pretty hot the last week or so and that always makes me think of fuel pump problems.

Thanks for the reply, I had that problem last year, I was pulling the grade and was down to about 15 mpg, did not know what was going on. I switched tanks and it took off like I had a super charger. Needless to say I had both pumps chaged out within 3 months of each other. I think I may have a sensor, intake or exhaust flow problems. By the way what do you pull the grades at, what gearing, type of tranny and mileage do you get? Thanks Tim

Well, speed varies quite a bit with where I am on the grade and how many big rigs I come up on. I guess between 45 and 55 mph would be about right. My truck is a '91 F350 SC DRW with the Banks Power Pack, 5 speed manual and 4:10 gears. Average mpg (towing) is 8.5 from San Jose to Reno and back.
Thanks for the info. I get 6.5-7 towing from Sac to Fallon Neveda and back. I think my c-6 is the main reason, to many rpms. I was also think and reading other treads that if may be time for timing chain set and possibly a new cam, 128k.
