Since the huricane has been coming through and i have been getting alot of rain here i have noticed i have a few leaks in the firewall of my truck. Any recomendations on what to do to get itto stop?
dum dum putty, the stuff they put around ac lines that pass thru the firewall. electricians call it duct seal. comes in a plastic bag or wrapper. stays pliable and seals real good.
yahh i used to use it all the time at the plants it keeps the water out and it stays in place. that would probably work best. you can get at Home depot or most hardwhere stores and it's cheep too.
That's a sharp red one you've got in the gallery!! My '74 looks to be the same kind of hookup as yours (see gallery). Mine doesn't leak, but I've had the heater core out several times - it has a foam gasket on the inside and is all dried up and brittle but still does not leak.
Advance Auto parts has the dum-dum referred to earlier....it comes in little ribbons. I don't think the foam gasket from Ford is around anymore, but I'd bet you 10-1 if you pulled the heater core out and sealed the inside area of the heater box up with the dum-dum and then re-installed the assembly, then sealed the interior area under the hood that'd fix it.
I'd also get somebody to shine a flash-em light into the cowl at NIGHT whilst you laid on the floor inside to see if you can see any light coming through the cowl area... mine leaks here like a water faucet and is the reason I'll be shaving the cowl during my restoration...
