Recall reminder
I recieved a letter from Ford today letting me know the recall 03E03 - powertrain & fuel injector control modules recal hasnt been done on my truck yet. What will ford do if I dont get this done? Is there a time limit? I havent had any driveability problems so they havent flashed it yet, supposedly the oct flash was done at the dealer before I bought it, but if it was it didnt take away my pilot injection. Any one else get a reminder? take care, John
The federal government requires that all vehciles built from 1996 have the ability to be diagnosed by aftermarket scan tools. This is to ensure that all vehicles meet emission standards without the owners being locked into going to the dealership for repairs. This was addressed by the programming update described under Running Change 5 back in August, but now it is a manditory update.
Since RC5 has been superceded by RC7, this means all vehciles subject to this recall will have increased engine noise at idle due to the deactivation of the pilot injection in the split shot strategy.
You have an early 03?
I believe that is the recall for the CA emissions trucks and the one that is for the OB II compliance. I found out about it when I asked the service advisor for the oasis report on it right after I bought the truck, Ford never sent me a first recall notice, It used to be listed on my ford website when i did a recall search for my truck but it isnt there anymore. people here told of decreased mileage after getting this flash and losing pilot injection. just wondering what will happen if I dont get the recall.
