3rd Tranny

last winter i lost first and second gear. and i got a used tranny droped in $1,700 latter it drove good untill i lost 5th and reverse last week. now the mechanic is sawing hes gonna have to open it up the see whats wrong this time. But now its over the 6 month warrenty so i might be SOL. Not too happy with this. I figured a $1,700 tranny would outlast my truck. Anyone have a mazda or even better ZF tranny they want to give me?

what tranny is in there now is it the m5od or the zf? i would scream bloody murder to the guy that rebuilt that tranny to begin with. there is no reason for a manual to go out like that unless your playing real real hard on it.

Manual trannys rarely break, and especially not three times, unless they were put together wrong in the first place or you are pulling the Queen Mary with it.

Mazda trannys are known for shifter rail seal failing. No drips(seals on the top) but eventually all fluid leaks out and your tranny is done. My old truck did this, after rebuild mechanic used softplugs instead of rubber plugs. Ask you mechanic.

i must say that tranny is not a good one. ford messed up by droping that into these heavy rigs. plus your running stock gears with a 32" tire so that wont help either. I would start searching for a zf in some of your local wrecking yards and also find another mechanic because he has found himself a sugar daddy.... YOU!
