Truck Number Six

Well I finally found the right project truck for my son. It's a 77 F-150 4x4 with all the extras on it.I am getting a 302 complete with the bellhousing and what is left of the 351m that came in it.Will the 302 bolt up using the same frame mounts or will I have to look for new ones.Is the 351 better for a truck or is it a dog?Did Ford change the AC between 76 and 77 because there is no fan box protruding out into the engine compartment yet it still has factory air. Many more questions as we dig into the old girl. Thanks for any imput.

Thumbs up 77 F150 (good choice)

the 302 will not bolt up directly, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that 302 is a windsor motor, which is a complete different block. The a/c is different from a 76 to a 77 and so is the steering gearbox along with other minor changes. I personally like the 351M motor, has tons of torque but not alot of horsepower stock. 302's are good motors but in my opinion are a little small for pickups, if your son isn't planning on doing any wheeling or pulling the 302 should do fine. I suggest assembling the 351 and using it but that all depends on your budget. Good luck with the build up hope I helped a little.
