Sub install

Hey guys, I have a 2004 Ford Ranger, 4 door extended cab.

I am looking to have a custom built sub-enclosure for a 10" sub. I will be placing it where the jack currently is (for those of us who don't know where the jack location is in the 2004 ranger extended cabs, its right in the middle in between the 2 jumper seats, against the back wall of the cab)

has anyone ever thought of doing this before? (I'm doing it so that I may still have the use of both fold-down jumper seats) If so, I would really appreciate some pictures so that I may see what I am getting myself into.

I have a 10" Alpine type S, so it will be a sealed sub enclosure.

thnx,

adam

Subs

I thought about putting two 8"s whre the jack was but when i put the box there it was still too big and it didnt look like the jump seats would be very usable. i decided to cut my box in half and put the subs under the jump seats and it fit pretty well. But my problem is here they plug in using just regular speaker wires not rca. And i have and 04 ranger as well but mine is the edge and it comes with a sub already and an amp. The thing is that i dont know where to plut in the speaker wires. I taped them into the door speaker wires and they didnt put out very much bass. I need a wiring diagram so i cans see where i need to hook the wires into. ill send you some pics if you give an e-mail address if you want.

Well i kinda answered my question. I went to best buy today and talked to the guys there. he said i need to get an amp and all the wires. He said it wont work if i just splice into the existing wires. So i think im going to do that. and im going to put my amp where the jack was.

If you unhook the exsisting sub, just run the wires from it to the new subs, it should be powerfull enough to push the two eights.
