quick question

i'm going to be putting a new ignition module on a 88 Ranger 2.9 in the next couple of days over at a friends house and was wondering if you need a special tool to remove the screws holding the module to the distributor...i know i needed one for my old mustang and was wondering if the ranger was the same way..,..also i've only caught a quick glance of the engine bay and was wondering how difficult it is to remove the distributor?

If you trust the Haynes manual..... it doesn't mention anything but a couple of screws to remove. It does say there are a couple of different types of modules it could have. For some strange reason I don't see distrib removal for the V6, only the 4cyl.

thanks for the reply...

yeah, i've looked through the manual and for some reason i'm pretty sure i ran into the same issue on my 2.3......i'm just wondering if anyone who has had to replace one on the 2.9 ran into this problem

the distributor on the 4-cyl looks easy enough to get to but on the 6-cyl the distributor looks like it is pretty far back in the engine bay
