just got my '91 f150 regular cab, and kept my system i had in my car. i have 2 12" alpine type-s subs... and wondering if they'll fit behind the seat
i am a tall guy, so the seat can't be anything less than all the way back.
has anyone ever built a sealed box (or boxes) for 12's that fit when the seat is all the way back? it won't break my heart to trade them for 10's if need be, but i'd just assume stick w/ what i've got. they have a 6 1/2" mounting depth, btw. thanks guys.
I built a 10 inch sealed enclosure for my 98 regular cab. The seat will not go all the way back with it in, it's a border-line nusiance. I could have built a wedge, but then it would have been too wide, and would have restricted my folding center console. I'm not sure exactly what you're working with in the 91'. But my best guess would be that you're either gonna have to drop down to 8s (to fit 2 of them), or build a very custom box, which would probably take up all of the space behind your seats, and thats with dual 10s.
My advice, go with a single 10, or 2 8s. If it's a good sub, one 10 will be all the bump in that small cab anyways. My JL 10w6 is plenty.
You can get very good step by step instructions on www.crutchfield.com on how to build a custom box. (and make sure you use the proper internal area dimantions). Good luck.
That might be a tight fit. I had a 1.5cuft ported box for a single 10" sub behind the seat of my '97 regular cab but had to move the seat up about 2 notches. My 6'1" frame still had plenty of room to get in and out with out banging my knees or head. You might want to consider buiding a custom enclosure that would sit on the floor hump between the seat and dash to house your subs?
i had 2 twelves behind my seat in my 92. the seat was moved up about halfway though so i could fit a 2 cube seald box behind their. i'd be glad to give ya some plans for it.

they call for about 1 cu ft per sub sealed (which is what i'd do)... how deep were your subs, do you know?
