I got a 2 1/2'' autospring leveling kit, and a friend gave me some new all terrain pro comp 33x12.50x17 for $200 bucks ( great deal). A local shop wants $170 to install leveling kit, mount tires on OEM rims, balanced, and alinged. I will do it next weekend. My question is; Are the tires to big for the OEM rims, or will they rub. Does anyone have any pics. THANKS
Shane, did you have any problems after you changed your tires and wheels??? I just recently went with the leveling kit, body lift, 34" tires and new wheels,,, now at about 55 to 65 I get some shimmy in the steering wheel... I had 35,000 miles on the factory tires and wheels,,, no shakes at all with them,,, this is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!
If my memory serves me right, the factory wheels are 17x7 or 17x8. I had some 12.50's on an 8 inch wheel on my last truck and they balooned very bad. Made them wear funny and noisier than all heck. I bet they would be really bad, to the point of unsafe, on 17x7's.

I have that shimmy sometimes but its random...not sure what's causing it because it doesnt happen all the time. Havent been able to find a common denominator. I've never driven anything with this much rubber so maybe that's one of the drawbacks, I don't know. One thing I found out is that I had them balanced on the inside only, no weights on the outside and was told this past weekend that this form of balancing results in only an 80% true balance at best. That could be part of the problem...but then again an ace mechanic I know said that if it's a balance or alignment issue then it would probably do it all the time and it isnt. On another thread I was reading about some aftermarket wheels are lug centric and the 04 F150 requires the wheel to be hub-centric but I dont have a clue which my Eagles are. But again, if it was something like that then I would think that it would shimmy all the time. Strange.....but I'll eventually find out what it is.
