Electrical frustration

I have a 96 ford explorer V-6 . The battery light stays on with engine off and battery will drain in a day or two. Battery is new, alternator was a rebuild and replaced about six months ago. Could not find any shorts in system but the light goes out when I pull the fuse for airbag/alternator. The light also goes out when engine is started. Any suggestions.

Thanks

Seems like it might be the alt again. Disconnect the main alt cable and see if the light goes out (this will eliminate the air bag). Also, since the light goes out when the alt is charging/running this points to it.

Psyche, I thought we had it! I disconnected the cable and the light is still there. Engine doesn't have to be running, the light goes out when the ignition switch is in the on position. I'm running out of ideas, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Oh well... try the electrical section from the main page, there might be some pros there.
