Too Much??

I'm in the market for something that rides better and gets better gas mileage than my big ol' truck (90 F-250). I'm definitely not a car person, so I'm leaning more toward a big SUV. I found a 00 EB Expy at a local used car dealer. Fully loaded with every option available that year, I think, except I'm not sure about the air suspension. They want $14K for it.

Now for the questions. First, to those of you with higher mileage Expys, how much mileage is too much?? It has 113 on it, and I'm just wondering how much life is left in this thing, because I'll be putting close to 200 miles a week on this thing, if not more like 250. And what can I expect to begin to go wrong with it first??

Also, how can I tell if this has the air suspension or not, other than periodically hearing the compressor kick on and off, which I never did in the 15-minute test drive??

Thirdly, anyone car to give me an estimate on fuel mileage?? Just curious.

I really like this Expy, and it's surprisingly afforable (about $3K less than KBB). Would this be a good buy, as far as longevity is concerned??

Do I need it?? About as much as a hole in my head. Do I want it?? Oh, yeah........

There are some folks out there who have put in excess of 300K on these SUVs and they are still going strong. It's just a question of maintenance. I always poke around under any vehicle I'm considering buying. That will answer your air suspension question. Fuel mileage is crappy-say low teens.

I have a 01 expy EB 5.4 loaded ... and the milage is around 14.5mpg empty .. pulling the boat (19' seaswearl with cuddy) I get around 13 ...

you can tell if its got air suspension on it by looking under the rear end springs .. if you see a black air bag back there .. than its got the air suspension .. if you dont see it than it dose not have it ..

As for how much is too much ... I dont know .. I have 49k on mine .. and still strong ... but like Matt03Expy says ... I have seen them with unreal milage on them and still see them running strong ... as long as its been taken care of if should last quite a long time ... the 60 to 100000 mile weak engines are a thing of the past .. ..

As for Do you need it??? .. well .. thats up to you ...

Hope my .02 cents help!!

yeah, I think it's been taken care of mechanically. I opened the hood and started the engine and there weren't any unusual noises or anything. Just a purring engine. I should have more info tomorrow, seeing as I'm going to look at it with my parents and, hopefully, drive it off the lot.

And I was anticipating a more complicated answer about the airbags. I shoulda figured it'd be that simple....... THanks a lot guys.
