'02 Explorer Speaker Installation
I want to replace my stock speakers with something a bit more crisp and less distorted at higher levels. I found some nice Pioneer 3-way speakers, 6" x 4". I can not figure out how to remove the speaker panels to get to the stock speakers so i can remove them, and install the new ones (which have not been purchased yet). Any help in making this as simple and damage free as possible is greatly appreciated.

The speaker panels are part of the door panels...they don't come off by themselves. You will have to remove the entire door panel to get to the speakers. I don't have a copy of the shop manual for my 2002 Ex yet, so I can't help with the proper procedure...sorry.

I just did this on my 02 XLT. I ordered from Crutchfield and they included an exploded view of the door panels with instructions. I should be able to scan them in and email them to you. PM me your email address and I'll see if I can get that done tonight.
